The Shawl-Collar Cardigan

My close friends and those who read my Twitter updates know I’m a little obsessed with my shawl-collar cardigan. I wear it whenever I get the chance, which was very little until recently when it finally cooled down.
Anyway, a shawl cardigan is the type of garment I imagine wearing by a warm fire in a cabin out in the woods when the scenery all around is covered in snow as you drink a glass of Kentucky bourbon and perhaps even take puffs on a cigar (or better yet a pipe).
That being said, they look good in public, too. I wore mine to the mall in Lisbon and on the beach at sunset in Costa da Caparica.
They’re a replacement for a sportcoat and would look odd if you tried to wear it underneath one. The best ones are a little chunky and that’s all the better. Not everything you wear has to be fully fitted for it to be stylish. Wear cotton in the fall, wool in the winter, then go back to cotton in the spring.
